Don't Trust Listing Photos: A Real 2019 Mustang Pre-Purchase Inspection
Many car sale listings publish carefully selected, well-lit photos taken from the best angles so the car looks its best. But reality can be very different from the picture.
This 2019 Mustang is a clear example: the buyer saw it in the listing as 'clean and excellent' and called us to inspect it before signing the deal. When we arrived on site, we found the car's real condition was far from what the photos showed.

The car as it appeared in the listing
In the listing the car was 'spotless' with nothing missing: a 2019 Ford Mustang with 160,139 km. The client requested a full inspection covering the engine, gearbox, airbags, chassis, and interior and exterior body — and every one of them ended up with recorded findings.
Problem one: stored computer fault codes
Right at the start of the inspection, the engine and airbag warning lights were on the dashboard, and the computer scan revealed stored fault codes such as P0021 — meaning an over-advanced camshaft timing.
The causes behind this code can be expensive to repair: worn or damaged camshaft or gears, or a stretched or damaged timing chain. This is exactly the kind of fault you will never see in listing photos.
Problem two: delayed gear shifts
Our gearbox inspector noticed a delay when shifting between first, second and third gears (a delay or 'jerk' between gears 1–2 and 2–3), in addition to a welded exhaust.
Gearbox problems are among the most expensive car repairs. Discovering them before purchase gives you the chance to negotiate the price — or walk away from the deal before it is too late.
Problem three: chassis pull marks and repairs
Our inspectors noticed pull marks on the front-left chassis rail at its midpoint, repairs on the inner structural panels (heat work and body filler), and repairs on the inner door structures.
Pull marks on the chassis mean the car was previously in a significant accident — and that is exactly the difference between a car that is 'clean in photos' and one that is actually clean.
